Awesome Family

Rod had his annual manager’s meeting in Las Vegas this last week.  He left Tuesday morning and came back Thursday night.  We sure missed him.   On Friday we went to Lowes and Harbor Freight to buy the things we needed to finish the kitchen remodel.  We were in Lowes for almost three hours and we were all tired by the time we were done.  I started to feel a little strange once we got home and by bedtime was very sick to my stomach.  I spent the whole night dealing with what I guess was food poisoning, since no one else has any symptoms.  I lost ten pounds in 12 hours and was so weak by Saturday morning.  On Saturday, Rod headed to the store to get me Gatorade, yogurt and whatever else I could tolerate.  He spent the day working on the kitchen and forcing fluids on me.  The kids spent the day helping their daddy and taking care of me.  My family is awesome.  There is so much work that we need to do to the kitchen and no one complained.  Everyone worked hard and was compassionate to their sick mommy.  It is times like this that I realize what my children’s character is like and I must say that they are developing into exceptional people.

  1. What a blessing! Makes you feel like you haven’t failed as a mother after all, right? (that’s what it makes me feel in those moments, anyway! :) ) I’m sorry you were soooooo sick! YUCK!

Hopefully, you are feeling 110%, Melissa!

    Blessings!

    • Thanks Amy. I’m getting back to normal, well normal for me anyway, haha. I know what you mean about failing. We sure are hard on ourselves.

  2. Hi, Melissa. Hope you are feeling better. Food poisoning is really rough. You must be practicing for your birthday. Ha! I guess you already know that I think my grandkids are extra exceptional people, and I know that that comes from you and Rod. You are really outstanding parents and I know that you make each one feel extra special.

    • Thanks!

  3. What a nice comment from “Gramma”!

    • I know, huh? My MIL is one in a million!
